(note all estimates are free for labor/materials, color consults generally take 1-3 hours)
The very first step: Decide which rooms/areas are going to be painted.
You can fill out our personal worksheet before you begin that we send to you via email or in print. The color consult is the beginning of a wonderful relationship where we get to know you and what you are looking and "feeling" for.
It is okay to send us pictures ahead of time too if you have a digital camera or smart phone!

The third step consists of taking an “Emotional/Mood Inventory”: how do you feel in each room?, how do you WANT to feel in each room?,
In coming up with your assessment, consider the following four factors:
- Function: What is the room used for? Does it serve its function well?
- Who uses the room: Are there special needs at play?
- Mood: What feeling, emotion or mood do you want to convey in the room?
- Change: Is anything going to change? Answering that question now will help you choose colors more appropriately.
As a final step, we ask that you reassess the pictures in your folder or online picture account using the information you have now gathered on your space. What is it that you like the most in those pictures?
Client's Paint Color Exploration
You are now ready to focus on colors! This is the part that many people struggle with, as shown in this picture. The color selection process can be an extremely stressful experience, but it does not have to be. On their own, many people will make very “safe” and conservative color choices, for fear of “making a mistake”.
From Wow1 Day!
Survey shows that majority of Americans are scared of house painting
Recently, WOW 1 DAY! Painting partnered with Wakefield Research to find out what concerns Americans had when it came to getting their home painted. 1,000 nationally representative U.S. adults from the ages of 18 to 64 were polled and here are their top 3 concerns:
Prep – 1 in 3 Americans say it’s “too much of a pain” to do prep work before painting, such as cleaning and sanding walls, taping, covering furniture with drop sheets, etc.
Money – A quarter of Americans are concerned painting “will cost too much.” This is a surprising concern given that painting is one of the cheapest renovations you can do. This is perhaps indicative that the economy hasn’t recovered enough yet for homeowners to increase their home improvement budgets.
Time – 1 in 5 Americans said that painting would take too long, causing a prolonged disruption to their homes. This is a fair concern given that most painting projects can stretch out for days if not weeks regardless if it’s DIY or a hired painting company.
Overall, the majority of those surveyed had at least one concern when it came to getting their home painted and surprisingly enough, the majority was even higher among those adults polled who were between the ages of 18 and 34.
The price of a professional paint job shouldn’t keep you from making a color change, if you do your homework. A tip that can save you some money – ask painters to give you free estimates so you know your options. Also, don’t hire a painter who won’t put it in writing.
The benefits of painting your home far outweigh the costs of getting it done and if you ever decide to sell; at the very minimum you'll recoup your investment if not more!
This is where a professional color design consultation can be most helpful.
At LaBelle Maison USA we have found that doing the homework described above really helps clients in making color decisions that really work for them. Helping you create an environment that is nurturing to you is the result we strive to achieve with every client.
